Simpson was ranked 38 in 2009

Guernsey's Chris Simpson has reached the second round of the British National Squash Championships.

The Sarnian, now ranked 45 in the world, comfortably beat Wales' Gareth Owen 3-1.

Simpson took the first two games 11-6 11-7, but was pegged back in the third, losing it 11-9.

An 11-6 win in the fourth game booked Simpson's place in Wednesday's second round, where he will now meet Yorkshire's Laurence Delasaux.

Delasaux beat Merseyside's Stephen Siveter 3-2 in his first round tie.
