Simpson said he could have played better in the match

Guernsey's Chris Simpson has crashed out in the first round of the 2010 Punj Lloyd PSA Masters in Delhi.

The 23-year-old lost in straight sets to the tournament's 16th seed, Egypt's Hisham Ashour.

The Egyptian beat Simpson 11-7 11-6 11-6 to send the Sarnian home at the first hurdle.

Simpson ends the year as he started, maintaining 47th place in the world rankings, thanks to his win at Vancouver's Jericho Open in November.
