Kirk created history by winning four trophies this season |
Guernsey pool player James Kirk has beaten four time champion Martyn Desperques to win the Guernsey Men's Individual Championship. The final was closely fought, with the scores tied four times, but Desperques missed the black in the 20th frame allowing Kirk to take the tie 11-9. The victory also gives Kirk the accolade of becoming the first person to win four island titles in one year. Kirk had already won the under-21, junior and pairs trophies. On the way to the final, Desperques saw off Craig de Carteret 9-7 in the semi-finals, while Kirk beat Darren Hughes 9-4 in his semi-final tie.
