Simpson said he had felt stronger with each round |
Guernsey-born Chris Simpson won the Talisman Energy Pro-Am squash tournament in Calgary on Sunday. Simpson, the world number 48 and top seed, defeated Scotland's Alan Clyne 11-6 11-7 2-11 11-9 in 67 minutes in the final. Clyne was the second seed and ranked 53 in the world. Simpson said: "I just managed to hold on in the fourth when Alan was making a comeback. I played all the big points in my matches really well." The 23-year-old added: "I played really tough squash all week, getting better with each match. The court conditions were very tough, as Calgary is at altitude. "I'm really happy with the win and the progress that I showed during the week."
