 Perrio and Dawes both retained their Channel Island titles |
Guernsey's Steve Dawes and Louise Perrio followed up their successes in Hampshire by retaining their inter-insular cross country titles on Sunday. Perrio won the women's event on the four-mile L'Ancresse course in a time of 23 minutes and 47 seconds. She was more than a minute ahead of Jersey's Jo Gorrod, who was 26 seconds in front of Guernsey's Nikki Neal. Dawes was never challenged across the six miles, finishing almost two minutes ahead of Jersey's Bruno Fransisco. Dawes finished the six-mile course in 32 minutes and 34 seconds as Guernsey clinched the men's trophy for the 18th consecutive year. Fransisco was followed in by a string of Guernsey runners with Michael Batiste, Dave Dyke, Lee Garland and Colin Jeffreys completing the top six. Meanwhile Jersey edged the junior races 3-2.
