Kylie Robilliard about to lead off Guernsey to another success in the 4x100m relay |
Guernsey's athletes took home top honours in the inter-insular against Jersey at Footes Lane on Saturday. The Sarnians had overall victories in the senior men's and women's and the the under-11s, under-13s and under-17s. The Guernsey team were favourites for the men's event and it was no surprise they lifted the Burton trophy. However, not to be outdone, the island's senior women gave an excellent team performance in a very high quality match to take their own title. Wins from Kylie Robilliard, Louise Perrio and Teresa Roberts on the track paved the way for victory. But it was Debbie Doherty in the Javelin and Leonie Archer and Caroline Kyle in the jumps that saw the women edge clear of their rivals for a rare "Le Riche" trophy victory.
