French squash players head to Guernsey for Senior Open

Curgenven, world number 128, is the favourite in the women's event

Two top French players are travelling to Guernsey to compete in the island's most prestigious squash tournament, the Butterfield Senior Open, this weekend.

Tom Reboul, the men's number one seed, and Enora Villard are both in the top 20 of the French rankings.

Guernsey's Zephanie Curgenven, world number 128, starts as the favourite in the women's event.

Ben Rosec, director of Guernsey Squash, said Reboul would be hard to beat but the Guernsey players may surprise him.

He said whilst there were favourites in both the men's and women's competitions they would "have to really show their top abilities to get through these tough draws".

Rosec said he was also pleased to see some of the island's most promising juniors beginning to challenge for the senior honours.

"It will be a great weekend I am sure," he added.
