Simpson is the current British Under-23 champion

Guernsey's Chris Simpson is through to the quarter-finals of the Men's Edmonton Open after his opponent retired in the second game.

Simpson was leading Ireland's Liam Kenny 1-0 after taking the first game 11-4, before Kenny pulled out.

The result means that Simpson will now play Australia's Scott Arnold in the last eight of the $20,000 tournament.

Simpson [8] and Canada's Shahier Razik [7] are the only two seeds left in the draw of the competition.
