Marc Levers scores the second goal against Coventry on Saturday |
Nottingham Panthers captain Danny Meyers was full of praise for his fellow British players following two victories over the weekend. Panthers defeated Coventry 3-1 in the Challenge Cup on Saturday and then won 4-2 in Newcastle in the Elite League. Meyers told BBC Radio Nottingham: "With Marc Levers starting with injury, it's great to see him back to fitness and it shows how much he means to our team. "I also thought Robert Lachowicz was an absolute star this weekend." Lachowicz had regular ice time in the absence of the injured Jade Galbraith and was a key part of the back-to-back successes. | We had contributions from all the guys on the team |
Levers scored twice in Saturday's Challenge Cup victory over the Blaze at the National Ice Centre, with fellow British forward Matthew Myers also netting. On Sunday night, Levers was on target again, David Clarke took his tally to the season to 24, while Billy Ryan and defenceman Guy Lepine also got on the board. Meyers had praise for Lepine, who had to play as an emergency forward against the Vipers. "With us losing Alex Penner in the first period, Guy played as a forward for the final two periods and obviously got a big goal for us," he said. "We had contributions from all the guys on the team."
