George Awada netted for the Belfast Giants in Manchester

The Belfast Giants were defeated 4-3 by Manchester Phoenix in the first leg of the Challenge Cup final on Sunday.

Luke Fulghum gave Manchester the lead and further goals by Bruce Mulherin, Brett Clouthier and David Beauregard in the second period made it 4-0.

George Awada replied to reduce the deficit and then Andrew Martin and Evan Cheverie were both on target.

The second leg of the final will be played at Dundonald Ice Bowl on the evening of St Patrick's Day.
