Adey won the Challenge Cup as Panthers coach in 2004 |
Former Nottingham Panthers coach Paul Adey has backed netminder Michel Robinson to succeed at the National Ice Centre after he replaced Davis Parley. Robinson played under the Canadian two years ago at Rennon in Italy. Adey told BBC Radio Nottingham: "He did a great job for me and won us a lot of games - some nights all on his own. "When I had him we had a good relationship as player and coach and he played really well for me and the team. He is a very capable goalie." Robinson replaces 26-year-old Parley, who was released after a string of poor performances. Adey added: "Goalies need some help in front of them. They need guys to clear pucks and take away the key scoring areas. "If you do that you give your goalie a chance and Michel is capable of doing very very well."
