Retired trainer Jack Berry plans to build another sheltered accommodation centre for injured or elderly jockeys, this time in North Yorkshire.

After opening one in Lambourn recently, he has now written a book about it.

And the proceeds will go towards the cost of the next centre, which will be either at Malton or Middleham.

"Now I would like one in the North of England. And I would think it would be easier for planning in Malton," he told BBC Radio York."

"There's lots of land around Malton, lots of little places, old cottages that exist on around three or four acres of land.

"If we can get one of those, we can develop it."

The Leeds-born trainer, now based at Hunton near Bedale, had the idea for the Lambourn centre 12 years ago.

"At the time I thought, maybe I could scrounge a few acres and take it from there.

"We did get people to sponsor it, we bought some land at Lambourn, bought two or three acres and built 12 dwellings there."

In his book, Better Late Than Never, Berry describes "how the injured jockeys fund set out to raise £30,000 and virtually doubled it."
