York City boosted their Blue Square Bet Premier play-off hopes with victory over fellow top-five hopefuls Newport.

Michael Rankine scored the opener five minutes into the second half when he slotted home a penalty after being brought down by Chris Todd.

Rankine then turned provider as his cross gave strike partner Jamie Reed a simple header at the far post.

Jamie Collins pulled a goal a back in the final minute from six yards after Gary Warren's flick from a long ball.
