Vikings ladies through to quarter-final of hockey vase

Vikings Ladies team
Vikings won their fourth consecutive Isle of Man title in 2010

Vikings ladies beat Stratford 3-0 in Liverpool to reach the quarter-finals of the England Hockey Women's Vase.

Karen Faragher scored just before the break to give the Manx team the lead after a closely fought first half.

Captain Kim Carney added to her team's tally after the break with a strike from the edge of the circle.

Stratford swapped their keeper for an extra outfield player in the final minutes, but Karen Faragher scored her second of the game to seal victory.

The Isle of Man champions will now face Newcastle Ladies on Sunday, 13 March for a place in the semi-finals.

The Manx club qualified for the competition after winning the Isle of Man's Women's Premier League and will be looking to improve on last year's campaign when they reached the semi-finals.

The Women's Vase, which is a straight knock-out competition, has been running since the 2000/01 season.
