Ashford denied Jersey a place in the quarter-finals |
Jersey's men are out of the HA Trophy after a 3-0 home defeat by Kent side Ashford, who scored all three goals in the first half at Les Quennevais. Goals from Sam Handley, Robert Playford and Matt Reeve were enough to settle the fourth-round tie and book the visitors a place in the quarter-finals. Jersey showed some resistance in the second half, creating a number of chances and hitting the post late on. Jersey coach Shelagh Herbert said: "I thought Ashford were a classy side." She told BBC Radio Jersey: "Ashford had probably fewer chances than Jersey, but actually took them very, very clinically. "I think they were pretty solid in the centre of their defence and their goalkeeper was outstanding."
