Jersey Hockey Club beat London Academicals 5-1 at Les Quennevais to reach the third round of the HA Trophy.

Stuart Ramskill opened the scoring, finishing off a precision five-man move, before Simon Hurry and Mark Dicker made it 3-0.

Five minutes after the break, Dicker made it four, with Tom Millar striking the fifth with over 20 minutes left.

Jersey tired in the final quarter but conceded just once, from a short corner two minutes from time.

It was a performance which delighted captain Dicker. "We've been working really hard in training, and it showed today," he told BBC Jersey.

And despite quarter-final disappointments in recent seasons, he is determined that this campaign will see Jersey go further.

"We want to go on and win it - we know we're good enough and we want to go all the way this year," he said.

Jersey have been drawn away to Slough in round three on Sunday 21 November.
