Manx athletes have picked up nine medals at the Special Olympics European Summer Games in Poland. Tomas Dawe, 18, led the medal tally in Warsaw with a gold in the 100m and silver in the 200m. Paul Clucas picked up a gold in the long jump and silver in the 100m while Andrew Richardson won silver in the shot put. Jody Blaney, 26, was victorious for the ladies winning silver in the 100m and bronze in the shot put. Away from the track, the Manx team picked up two medals in the Badminton. In the men's doubles David Hudson and Lawrence Dyer came away with a bronze medal whilst the Manx ladies went one better with Katie Saunders and Zoe Lambie picking up a silver. The games have brought together around 1,500 athletes with intellectual disabilities from 56 countries to compete in nine sports including: athletics, badminton, tennis, table tennis, basketball, women's football, bowling, roller-skating and powerlifting.
