The Isle of Man team are due to head to India on Saturday |
The head of Isle of Man Athletics has assured his Commonwealth Games team their welfare will be at the heart of any decision over travelling to Delhi. Trevor Taubman has written to the island's competitors reassuring them accommodation will be habitable. He said: "We certainly don't want the athletes to become ill out there. "If there are sanitary problems which make our accommodation uninhabitable and athletes come to us with concerns, of course we are going to listen." The Manx squad, which consists of around 30 athletes, is due to travel to India on Saturday. They will compete against 71 other nations at the event in Delhi scheduled to take place between 3 and 14 October. Several countries have complained about the accommodation in Delhi with some claiming it is "unfit for human habitation".
