Dutch wheelchair tennis star Esther Vergeer continued her dominance with a straight-sets win over compatriot Korie Homan for her ninth British Open title. Vergeer held off a strong challenge to win 6-2 7-6 and stretch her unbeaten singles run to 364 matches. "I'm pleased with my performance because I knew it would be tough," admitted Vergeer afterwards. Britain's Peter Norfolk reached the quad singles final after beating Dorrie Timmermans of the Netherlands 6-4 7-5. He will face world number two David Wagner in Saturday's decider. Wagner, who lost to Norfolk in last year's final, easily beat compatriot Nick Taylor 6-1 6-0. In the men's singles event, defending champion Shingo Kunieda of Japan will bid for his third consecutive British Open title in Saturday's final when he takes on second seed Stephane Houdet of France. Kunieda beat world number six Stefan Olsson of Sweden 6-2 6-0 while Houdet was a 6-1 6-4 victor over compatriot Michael Jeremiasz.
