Weir and Woods have both enjoyed successful years

Weir and Norfolk shared the individual male award with Woods taking the women's equivalent at the ceremony in Reading.

The Great Britain wheelchair rugby team claimed the team of the year honours.

BBC Sport won the media coverage award with commentator Paul Dickenson taking the media award.

Weir has enjoyed a superb year, winning the London Marathon and then building on his success on the track, breaking two world records and winning three golds at the Paralympic World Cup and the IPC World Championships.

He also won gold over 1500m at the European Athletics Championships in Gothenburg.

Norfolk finished 2006 as the number one quad singles player for the third time thanks to his victory in the NEC Singles Masters in Amsterdam earlier this month.

During the year he also won all three Super Series quad titles at the Japan Open, the British Open and the US Open.

It was also a successful 2006 for Woods, who competed at the Commonwealth Games before finishing second in the London Marathon.

She then won silver at the 800m event at the World Championships in Helsinki and won bronze in the marathon at the IPC World Championships before claiming victory in the Tunnel 2K race through the Tyne Tunnel.

She finished her year with a second-placed finish at the New York Marathon.

Rising teenage tennis stars Jordanne Whiley and Gordon Reid won the junior awards with shot putter Robin Womack named newcomer of the year.
