The victory was Lloyd's second major title

The pre-match favourite, who goes by the nickname of "Jaws", scored 15 maximums in the final to set a new tournament record.

Lloyd took control of proceedings in the middle of the match to open a 12-6 lead and never allowed Part back in.

The 31-year-old wrapped up the win in style with a tremendous 170 checkout.

Lloyd started well with two 180s in an 11-dart first leg and followed it up with a 13-darter.

Part got the score back to 2-2 but could never get his nose in front as Lloyd's relentless scoring - he averaged 106.37 points over the match - took its toll.

Five legs in a row took Lloyd 12-6 clear as Part, who sporadically produced spectacular checkouts, slowly dropped out of contention.

When Lloyd moved to within a single leg of victory, Part relaxed and won three on the bounce but it was only delaying off the inevitable.

"Playing John in the final was a tough game," said Lloyd.

"I always knew it was going to be tough because he had done the business (by beating Phil Taylor) earlier in the week.

"I'm over the moon. I'm so happy I'm finding it hard to put into words."

Part admitted he had been outplayed by a superb performance from Lloyd.

"Considering I lost, I'm not too disappointed because of the way Colin played," he said.
