Mapley wins Talbot Valley event

Mountain biking at Talbot Valley

John Mapley made the most of dusty conditions to finish first in the penultimate round of the Holeshot downhill series.

Mapley beat Dan Owens into second place by almost two seconds, recording a time of 52.47 on the Talbot Valley course.

In the hardtail category, Gary Robert finished in 54.65, which saw him place third overall.

In the junior section of the event, James Mapley took the honours ahead of Jersey rider Alex Plaster.

The course at Talbot Valley proved testing throughout, with the lack of rain creating a dry and dusty surface that made gripping difficult.

The final round of the Holeshot Downhill series is being held on 18 October at Pleinmont.
