Devon bowls player Ian Bond will make his debut at the World Matchplay Bowls Championships on Thursday at Sheffield's Ponds Forge. Bond, from Exeter, faces a first round clash against ex-world indoor champion and number one seed Mervyn King. Also competing are world number one Paul Foster, current world indoor champion Greg Harlan, and five-time world indoor champion Alex Marshall. Foster opens his tournament against Wales' Jason Greenslade. The championships, which are in their fourth year at Ponds Forge, run until Friday night (final expected to start 1900 BST).
