Ian Bond loses in round two of the Bowls World Singles

Bowls

Devon bowls player Ian Bond has been knocked out in the second round of the Indoor Singles Championships at the World Bowls Tour in Norfolk.

Bond, who won the World Pairs title with Andy Thomson on Sunday, lost in round two of the singles to 19-year-old Australian Ben Twist, 7-5 8-4.

Bond, 36, led in both sets, but the young Australian showed his mettle to fight back on each occasion.

Bond said: "If he had not been on song, I probably could have won that."

He added: "Winning the first set clearly boosted his confidence."
