Jarrad Breen has become the youngest player to win a World Indoor Bowls Championship match after his opening round triumph over Robert Chisholm. The Welsh teenager, the youngest player to compete in World Bowls' flagship event, shocked Chisholm at the Potters Leisure Resort in Hopton on Sea. The Englishman and world number 19 was beaten two shots to nil 5-5, 9-5 by the 17-year-old qualifier from Tonyrefail. "It went to plan but I did just skip through to win the last end," he said. Breen was not undaunted by his maiden appearance at the World Bowls Championship and took an early lead before Chisholm fought back to hold a single-shot advantage going into the final end. But the youngster showed great nerve to tie the set before playing a superb final shot at the end of the second set to seal a stunning win. "I wasn't nervous going onto the green before the match," Breen told BBC Sport. "But when I came within a chance of winning the match in the second set, the nerves started " Chisholm, though, is no stranger to history-making achievements as the 24-year-old became the first qualifier to win the Welsh International Open in Swansea last year.
