Worcester Wolves director of basketball Paul James has been appointed as assistant coach for the Great Britain under-23 team. James, who will assist Chris Finch, is looking forward to working with some of the country's rising stars. He said: "It will be an honour to play some part in building a foundation for the future national teams. "I am delighted to be supporting Chris Finch in what will be an intriguing summer," he added. James already has international experience through his role as England senior men's head coach. The under-23 squad will bridge the gap between the under-20s and senior team, providing valuable international experience and helping to develop a team for future Olympic games. | This latest acknowledgement is further testimony to the energy and expertise that he brings to British basketball Worcester Wolves' Mick Donovan |
Mick Donovan, head of the Institute of Sport at the University of Worcester, believes the appointment underlines James' credentials. "Paul will clearly be a leading part of our programme next year and have an influence with all of our teams and players," he said. The under-23 squad will play in a four-team tournament in Lille from 18-20 June.
