Worcester Wolves have confirmed head coach Paul James has agreed a new deal for the 2010/11 BBL season. James said he was delighted to have confirmed his future so quickly as this would help him with player recruitment. "We had an exciting end to this season winning our last seven games, just missing out on the play-offs," he said. "The hard work of retaining players from this year, and the search for two or three more quality players to enhance the team has already started." James arrived at the Wolves mid-season, when his predecessor Chuck Evans and six players left following an internal dispute. On his arrival, Wolves were struggling in the BBL and James was faced with having to completely rebuild the squad in three weeks over the festive period. | Everyone at the club is thrilled that Paul will be remaining with the Wolves Worcester Wolves chairman Roger Clarke |
Despite these handicaps the new-look Wolves only missed out on the play-offs on the final day of the regular season. The club's chairman Roger Clarke confirmed Paul James will lead all playing and coaching responsibilities as director of basketball, which includes both the Wolves and University basketball programmes. "Everyone at the club is thrilled that Paul will be remaining with the Wolves," said Clarke. "Clearly the BBL team will benefit as many of the players realise that by representing the Wolves and playing under Paul, they will improve as individuals, as well as being part of a well organised and exciting team. "With Paul as director of basketball the whole programme and the relationship with the university will go from strength to strength, with a large number of players and coaches benefitting from his experience."
