Flyers set to debut in new arena

WISE Arena
The arena has taken three weeks to refurbish and now holds 1000 spectators

Bristol Flyers are set to debut at their newly-refurbished 1000-seater arena in Filton at the weekend.

The Flyers face a double-header, starting with the Coventry Crusaders on Saturday and Plymouth on Sunday, after three weeks without a game.

"The players are chomping at the bit to get back into competitive action, said Flyers head coach Andreas Kapoulas.

Bristol will be led for the season by new club captain Greg Streete who has come through the Flyers junior club.

"Greg deserves the captaincy. He is a great ambassador for the club as well as a great athlete and player," Kapoulas said.

"With him leading the team we should achieve great things this season.

"I know Greg is immensely proud of his achievements, as we are, and this is just another string to his bow."

The Flyers start their weekend against Coventry in the National Trophy, requiring a victory to ensure progress into the quarter-finals of the competition.

A win against Plymouth on Sunday in the National Cup will see the Flyers host Taunton in the next round.
