Bristol Flyers suffered a narrow loss to West country rivals Taunton Tigers 68-67 in the English National Trophy. With just seconds to go Tigers scored a free throw to edge ahead before Doug McLaughlin-Williams missed with the final shot of the match for the Flyers. The game was a tight affair with the score 34-33 to the Tigers at the break. "We just did not play well today. We have a lot of work to be done before our next home game," said Flyers head coach Andreas Kapoulas. The top-scorers for Bristol were American Doug McLaughlin-Williams who contributed 30 points while captain Greg Streete weighed in with 19 points. For Taunton their new American Colin Page put in a man-of-the-match performance scoring 23 with Paul Yabsley adding 19 points of his own. The Flyers now lie second in their National Trophy group at the midway stage of the competition. Their next fixture is at home to Coventry Crusaders on 24 October.
