Guernsey women's basketball team made a great return to national league action in Surrey with Saturday's 58-56 victory over Guildford Heat. The points were evenly shared amongst the Guernsey team, Liz Kerr top-scoring with 16. Trailing 22-14 in the first quarter, Guernsey closed the gap in the second before pulling ahead in the third. But, after going nine points in front, they had to survive a Guildford fightback before claiming a tight win. Coach Patrick Ogier admitted that his team had been guilty of sitting back late on in the contest. "They hit a few threes," he told BBC Guernsey. "And they even had a chance to tie the game with a lay-up but they missed, fortunately."
