Agethangelou won a team bronze at this year's Commonwealth Games

Top seeds Mariana Agathangelou and Heather Olver failed to retain their Irish Open title, losing to Maria Helsbol and Anne Skelbaek of Denmark.

In a repeat of the 2009 ladies doubles final line-up, the Danes, seeded two, turned the tables with a 12-21, 21-12, 21-15 victory in 48 minutes.

Jersey's Elizabeth Cann, the top women's seed in the singles, bowed out in the quarter-finals.

She was beaten by Ireland's Chlose Magee 21-13, 21-17.
