Jersey winger Ed Dawson goes over for his side's second try at St Peter |
Jersey kept up the pressure on leaders Ealing, scoring six tries against second-from-bottom Hinckley. The visitors belied their lowly position in restricting Jersey to only an 18-13 half-time lead. Jersey had scored with a penalty try, and one from winger Ed Dawson, Will Keeling replying for Hinckley. But second-half tries from Dan McCormack, Josh Chamier, Nick Trower and James Copsey put Jersey in control, despite a James Needham consolation. Despite the closeness of the first half, Jersey coach Ben Harvey was full of praise for his side. "We had a lot of youngsters playing," he told BBC Jersey. "To improve as the game went on and to finish as we did was fantastic." Leaders Ealing beat Henley 41-16 at home to retain their five-point lead over Jersey. The islanders' last game of 2010 is away to mid-table Worthing next Saturday (18 December).
