Agathangelou hopes to make it to the 2012 Olympics

Jersey badminton player Mariana Agathangelou won doubles gold at the Irish Open at the weekend.

Agathangelou and Heather Olver beat the Danish pairing of Maria Helsbol and Anna Skelbaek 21-13, 21-19.

But she had to settle for runners-up in the mixed doubles with her regular partner Robin Middleton.

They sailed through up to the finals where they met the Danish pair Mikkel Larsen and Mie Kristensen and lost 21/16, 23/21.
