Jersey's mixed touch rugby team finished second at the Home Nations |
Jersey's mixed touch rugby team finished second to England when they took part in the 2009 Home Nations Tournament in Glasgow on Saturday. The island side lost 7-5 to a strong England team in the final. Despite the defeat, team manager Morag Obarska told BBC Jersey he was very proud of the team. "It's been an awesome day, everyone's put in 100% and while it would have been nice to come away with the trophy they all played really well," he said. The score was tied at 5-5 with only minutes to go when the Jersey defence finally succumbed. Obarska said the team had learned a lot from the day. "Everyone learned heaps and the experience will help us loads next year at the Europeans," he added. Battling it out against England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales at the tournament, Jersey's men's and women's teams both finished fourth.
