Matthew Pinel claimed the 2009 Magic Touch Island Petanque Singles Trophy at the Weighbridge Terrains on Saturday. In pouring rain the 16-year-old was the best of the 24 competitors taking part and reclaimed the title he previously won in 2007. Pinel convincingly defeated his father Keith 13-6 on his way through to the final, where he faced singles debutant Toby Northern. But Pinel's great form continued as he claimed his second singles title.
