Jersey Veterans are through to a national final for the first time |
Jersey Hockey Club's veterans have reached the final of the English Hockey Veterans National Plate after beating Bourneville 6-5 on penalty flicks. Jersey had led 2-1 at half-time thanks to goals from Ed Daubeney and Nick Taylor but conceded a late equaliser. Mark Bailey scored the winner in the shoot-out after Jersey goalkeeper Paul Duckworth had saved three penalties. Jersey will play Kingston-Upon-Hull in the final, the club's first at national level of hockey, on 26 April. The first round of penalty flicks had ended with both teams scoring three but Bailey won it for Jersey in sudden-death. Duckworth was named man of the match for his display. Kingston thrashed Old Wulfrunians 7-0 in their semi-final. The final will be held at Luxborough Lane, home of Old Loughtonians, in Essex.
