Both Jersey senior teams claimed inter-insular wins |
Jersey's men's and women's senior hockey teams defeated their Guernsey counterparts in the annual Inter-insular championships on Saturday. The Jersey men won 5-2 with three goals from captain Mark Dicker and one each from Michael James and Peter Millar. It is the first time Jersey has won the men's title since 2002. Jersey men's head coach Shelagh Herbert told BBC Jersey: "It was absolutely fantastic, there was a great desire to win the game today." Elisa Phillips starred for Jersey's women, with the only goal in a 1-0 win. Other than the first-team victory, Jersey's other men's sides lost all their divisions. The women's second division was shared after a 3-3 draw, while Guernsey claimed victory in the women's thirds winning 4 - 0.
