Cann failed to make it out of the first round in Birmingham

Jersey badminton players Mariana Agathangelou and Elizabeth Cann have been knocked out of the All England Championships in the first round.

Cann, the national women's singles champion, went down 21-9 21-16 to Chinese seventh seed Lin Wang.

Agathangelou, with Scottish partner Imogen Bankier, lost in the women's doubles opening round.

They were defeated by Chinese duo Pan Pan and Qing Tian 21-17 21-16 at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham.
