Bailey (left) and Inderwick are hoping to beat Jersey on Saturday |
Guernsey's Under-17's hockey team say they are ready to retain their inter-island crown against Jersey at Footes Lane on Saturday. Their coach, Helen Bailey, told BBC Guernsey the side is confident: "We're looking really strong. "You'd never know they were from different schools as they are such a cohesive unit." The girls have been forced to take on boys teams for practise because of a shortage of suitable women's teams. "We've had lots of matches against the boys so we've had some competitive games which is good," said captain Pippa Inderwick. "Inter-insulars are always very passionate - we may be going into it has favourites but you never know what's going to happen on the day," Bailey added. Pushback is at 1030 GMT at Footes Lane on Saturday, 6 December.
