21 records were broken over the two-day championships at Beau Sejour |
Guernsey's 12-year-old swimming star Kristina Neves won seven senior titles and set 10 new island records at the weekend's island championships. In total, 21 island records were broken out of the 32 events being staged at Beau Sejour. Neves won senior titles at 100m, 200m and 400m freestyle 50m and 200m backstroke, 50m butterfly and 400m individual medley title. She also broke six island records for her age group. Guernsey Swimming Club president Jo Norman told BBC Guernsey that the record-breaking swims are down to the people at poolside. "We've got some very good teachers and coaches around in both clubs," said Norman. "We've got a lot of eight, nine, 10 and 11-year-olds coming up in both clubs so, in the next few years, it should be very interesting."
