Jersey man is 24th across channel

Jersey's 24th cross channel swimmer has arrived in France.

Cedric Bird left Shakespeare beach near Dover at 2200 BST on Friday and arrived at Cap Gris Nez just before 1000 BST on Saturday.

The 35-year-old from St John did the swim in aid of Jersey's special care baby unit.

Mr Bird, a member of the Jersey Long Distance Swimming Club, has been waiting since August to do the cross-channel swim.
