Ulster Branch Award winners with their prizes
David Humphreys doubled-up in the Guinness Ulster Rugby Awards on Thursday evening.

The Ireland fly-half trotted off with the main Ulster Player of the Year Award - the second time he has won the title.

Humphreys, who will be on duty for an Ireland XV at Eaton Park on Saturday, was a popular choice after he kept Ulster ticking over this season.

He was also the choice of the Club Ulster award which is chosen by the official supporter's group.

Humphreys had a memorable year particularly his record Heineken Cup haul of 37 points against Wasps.

But what is conceived as the main prize of the evening went to Humphreys's ''shadow'' Paul Wallace.

Wallace lifted the Guinness Personality of the Year prize following a wonderful season when he did more than most to lift the profile of Ulster rugby.

The 23-year-old Belfast-born Wallace was originally contracted to cover the fly-half role for Ulster. However, he ended up starring at full-back and deservedly won Ireland A honours this season.

Lewis Stevenson won the Schools' Renault Player of the Year following a season that saw him win caps at Ulster and Ireland level.

Stevenson has now signed for new Division One side Belfast Harlequins.

And it was Harlequins Director of Rugby Andre Bester who won the Coach of the Year title.

Bester, formerly with Ballymena, took Harlequins back to the top tier of AIB League rugby in his first season in charge.

Prime mover

The Youth Player of the Year went to Monaghan flanker Oisin Hennessey.

Hennessey, who has since joined Dungannon was a prime mover in the Irish and Ulster Youth side's last season.

Ballynahinch landed the First Trust Bank Club of the Year award following a season that saw teams lift five league and cup titles.

The Dorrington B Faulker Memorial Award for services to rugby went to former Omagh Academy schoolteacher Dick Hinds.

Dungannon's Terry Jackson won the PRO/Media prize for the second successive season.
