![]() | Monday, 4 March, 2002, 15:41 GMT Irish girls lose again ![]() Irish girls still without their first championship victory Ireland 0-13 Scotland Suzanne Fleming's girls in green couldn't quite complete a clean sweep for Irish sides over Scottish opposition at the weekend. Following five wins out of five for Irish teams over the previous two days, the women's senior side were left still waiting for their first ever Six Nations victory. They put up a brave fight at Thomond Park, but lost a disjointed game marred by a shameful stamp on the head of Ulster centre Rachel Boyd off the ball in the final quarter. That the culprit couldn't be identified and hence went unpunished. Scotland, who had taken the lead with a penalty from scrumhalf Paula Chalmers, sister of Craig, in first half stoppage time. Makeshift Yet another Irish lineout was stolen and the Scots spread right to work Richmond winger Jen Dickson over in the corner with an hour on the clock. Coulter was carried off and her replacement Magali Dolo had to leave the field injured a few minutes later, so Ireland ended up with a makeshift front row. That proved costly when Ireland were pushed off their own ball at a five metre scrum. Scottish No 8 Donna Kennedy touched down to give the final score a very flattering look against an Irish side for whom record cap winner Fiona Steed was outstanding. The Shannon flanker, being watched for the first time in an international by her boyfriend, Ireland prop John Hayes, made some incredible cover tackles to keep her team in the game. | See also: Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Other top Northern Ireland stories: Links to more Northern Ireland stories are at the foot of the page. | ||
