Nicholls first rode for the Ipswich Witches in 1995 |
Scott Nicholls has refused to confirm whether he will ride for the Ipswich Witches next season, with the club's league status undecided. The Witches finished bottom of the Elite league but avoided the drop after beating Newcastle in the relegation play-off final. However, director Chris Louis has not ruled out voluntary relegation. Nicholls told BBC Radio Suffolk: "I'm keeping my options open, I'd like to get something sorted out early." He added: "We're in a position where we need to establish if they're going to stay Elite or go Premier. | I feel like things slipped away a bit in the last few years |
"If someone makes an offer I like then I'm going to take it as it's my job and at the end of the day I've got my family to support. Nicholls has raced with Ipswich in nine seasons over three different periods. "Ipswich has been good for me, I like it here, I like the people and the track," he said. "Sadly this year has been a little bit demoralising, with things going the way they are. "I'd consider coming back but only if there's some changes and we come out fighting from the word go." Despite being unable to lead Ipswich to success this season, Nicholls said he felt there was more to come in his career. "I feel like things slipped away a bit in the last few years, but i feel I'm riding better now," he said. "I don't feel like I've reached my peak, I can still step it up but be more consistent." Nicholls also hopes to increase the amount of racing he does abroad, and said: "I want to race in Sweden and Poland. "I'm one of those riders who does better if I'm constantly riding."
