Nicholls has been Ipswich's strongest performer this season |
Scott Nicholls was left counting the cost of Ipswich's inconsistency after the Witches went down to a 46-44 defeat at Wolverhampton Wolves on Thursday. The Witches, who lost all of their last four meetings and nine of their previous 11, remain rooted to the bottom of the Elite League table. Nicholls, 32, told BBC Radio Suffolk: "We've seen what everybody in the team can do on their night. "But it isn't happening consistently and that's what's costing us points." Ipswich could have nicked a draw against the Wolves had they sealed a 5-1 in the final heat, but technical faults prevented Nicholls from challenging in the last race. "It's really frustrating. The problem started in heat 13," added Nicholls. | Whatever happens I can go away with a smile on my face but I'm going there to win Scott Nicholls on the British GP |
"We thought we'd found the problem and fixed it, but obviously it wasn't what we thought. "The bike was mis-firing from the word go and I hung on for third." Nicholls has been Ipswich's top performer all season, as displayed by his 12-point haul against the Wolves, and he hopes to take his personal form into the British GP on Saturday. "I'm not chasing the World Championship, it's just a one-off event," he said. "Whatever happens I can go away with a smile on my face but I'm going there to win."
