Hynek Stichauer returns to Loomer Road after several months out injured |
Elite League riders will race in Stoke on Sunday, at the annual Pride of the Potteries meeting at Loomer Road. James Wright, Ty Proctor and Elite League title-winner Ben Barker head the line-up at the individual meeting. Many Stoke Potters riders will also feature and team manager Malcolm Vasey believes a number of riders could challenge for the trophy. "It is an interesting meeting with all the Stoke team involved and looking to do well and finish on a high," he said. Barker, a former Stoke rider, won the Elite League title with Coventry Bees this season and came second in this event last year, losing out to home favourite Jason Bunyan. Barker will look to go one better this time around, as Bunyan is unable to defend his title due to injury. | Young Danish rider Niklas Porsing has been recommended to us and we have decided to take a look at him |
Another ex-Potter returning to Loomer Road on Sunday is former captain and current Berwick Bandit Lee Complin, who will also expect to challenge for a podium place. The meeting is a chance to see some of the country's top riders up close, but Vasey will also use it as a chance to run the rule over his Potters side and some potential new signings. Dane Niklas Porsing, 17, and Hungarian rider Tamas Sike will race, as they bid to secure a place on the Potters' roster for next season. Vasey added: "Young Danish rider Niklas Porsing has been recommended to us and we have decided to take a look at him, along with Tamas Sike, who won a junior northern championship event at Berwick a few weeks back." Existing Potter Hynek Stichauer will also make a return to Loomer Road after several months out with a broken arm. The Popular Czech rode in the Potters Young Shield defeat at Workington a week ago. Promoter Dave Tattum also confirmed that Stoke Potters' rider of the year will be announced in a presentation ceremony after the meeting.
