Stoke Potters suffered a 51-41 defeat at Loomer Road as Edinburgh Monarchs claimed all four points to be crowned Premier League champions. The Potters lie 12th in the table, a point clear of Glasgow Tigers as they look to qualify for the Young Shield. Edinburgh will race in the Elite League promotion play-offs. "Edinburgh are a quality side and showed why they are league champions this year," Potters team boss Malcolm Vasey told BBC Radio Stoke. "I felt we did well and kept the hunt during the meeting and made a match of it," he added. "But with riders like Ryan Fisher, Kevin Wolbert and Kalle Katajisto all in form they had the edge on us and deserved the victory." The Potters have four fixtures remaining, starting with the return leg in Edinburgh as they try and cement a top 12 position in a bid to qualify for the Young Shield. "I feel we can still qualify for the Young Shield but we now have to take points in our remaining home fixtures," Vasey added.
