Chapman was not impressed by Thursday's performance |
Speedway promoter Buster Chapman told fans changes will be made after the King's Lynn Stars were demolished in the first leg of the KO Cup semi-final. The Stars lost 56-34 to the Monarchs, winning just one of the 15 heats. Chapman told BBC Radio Norfolk: "Rest assured we will make changes, take our time, look for the right riders, so watch this space." If the Stars are to retain their KO Cup title they will have to overturn the result at Edinburgh on 6 August. The meeting on Thursday at the Norfolk Arena started badly for Lynn as guest rider Chris Schramm took a tumble on the first bend, leading to a restart. Schramm led from the restart until his throttle stuck and caused a mass accident. "I've hurt both elbows, my neck, both sides of my hips and my knee - I didn't have a very good night," said Schramm. Things got worse for the Stars as Edinburgh's number one Ryan Fisher was unbeaten by an opposition rider until the very last heat. Tomas Topinka and Kozza Smith did round off the meeting with a 5-1 heat win, the Stars' first victory of the night, but it was not enough to please Chapman. "Some of them were very non-committal. We built the team we thought was right, we have had problems with injuries but I think some of them didn't do what they should be - that's no good for anyone," said Chapman. After winning the treble last season, Lynn fans are not used to seeing their side beaten at home, something Chapman is all too aware of. "The public deserve more and we deserve more. It's not all over yet and we need to look ahead to the next few matches.," he said. The Stars race on Sunday when they travel to Newport Wasps.
