Eastbourne's Eddie Kennett has guested for Wolves this season |
Wolverhampton have a lot of work to do at Monmore Green on Monday night if they are to turn round their Knockout Cup two-leg tie against Eastbourne. Injury-hit Wolves slumped to their heaviest defeat of the season as they went down 62-30 at Arlington. The absence of injured skipper Fredrik Lindgren for Saturday night's first leg was again a major handicap. Wolves were limited to just two winners - Nicolai Klindt (Heat 14), after four last places, and Ales Dryml (Heat 8). Eastbourne made a whirlwind start, with two Scott Nicholls/Lewis Bridger 5-1s sandwiching a run of 4-2s to leave the home side 26-10 up after six races. Niels-Kristian Iversen then doubled up a second place in Heat 7 to help him end up Wolves' top scorer on the night. But Eastbourne kept up the momentum, Nicholls, Lee Richardson and Edward Kennett all ending the night unbeaten to take such a massive advantage into Monday's second leg. EASTBOURNE: Lee Richardson 14+1, Scott Nicholls 12+3, Edward Kennett 12, Lewis Bridger 9, Simon Gustafsson 6+1, Cameron Woodward 6+1, James Brundle 3+1. WOLVERHAMPTON : Niels-Kristian Iversen 12+1, David Howe 6, Ales Dryml 5, Christian Hefenbrock 4, Nicolai Klindt 3, Kenneth Hansen 0
