Piotr Swiderski's 15-point haul could not prevent a Witches defeat |
Ipswich Witches suffered their first defeat in eight meetings after they lost 51-41 at home to Poole Pirates at Foxhall on Monday night. Chris Holder led the way for Poole, winning three heats as well as equalling the fastest time on the Suffolk track so far this season. Ipswich suffered from a lack of strength in depth, only Piotr Swiderski reaching double figures. Poole have risen to second in the Elite League, Ipswich slipping to fourth. After missing the chance to go second themselves following an 18-day break between fixture, Witches team manager Pete Simmons admitted his team were well beaten. He told BBC Radio Suffolk: "Obviously the lay-off did us no favours at all. But they rode well and we didn't make starts. "We didn't win a race until heat six and that is just not good enough."
